Description

This instrument was built in Mexico by Abel Garcia - one of Paracho's most respected contemporary luthiers. As the second label inside the guitar indicates, it was built for a "Carlos Monroy" - who in the 1990s promoted local luthiers and helped to run a museum that exhibited guitars of the best builders of Paracho. This very instrument that we have for sale here was housed in this museum for several years on display. Abel chose this guitar as his contribution as it was built under the tutelage of the great José Luis Romanillos, whose masterclasses Abel participated in. Lightly built with a traditional 5-fan system, it has a rich and warm sound, very textured and velvety, with great volume and clarity. The action is set very comfortably, and helps make this an overall very enjoyable guitar for player and audience alike - of note it is also a 640mm scale length for added ease of playability especially for players with smaller hands. It is in great shape – apart from some aesthetic wear in the finish, it has no cracks or repairs. This maker has been friends for many years with the Romero family who have played his instruments and promoted them to their students as an excellent value for a professionally made concert-level guitar.
