Description

This is a great, full size concert instrument and one of the most elegant Velazquez guitars we have seen from this period. The top features an outstanding piece of spruce with some tight cross-grain features, and the back and sides are perfectly quartersawn Indian rosewood. Condition is excellent – no cracks or repairs, remarkable for a guitar of this age. The very sleek shape and contour of the neck is very comfortable, and incredibly easy on the left hand. The sound of this instrument is best described by referring to Hauser II guitars from the same period - very precise and clear trebles with bold, sturdy basses. Having said that, this instrument has great power even by Velazquez' standards - perhaps the biggest sounding of his output we've seen. We consider Manuel Velazquez to be one of the most important American makers to date and his best instruments are, in our opinion, equal to the best of the European makers.
