Description

Moving on toward the second decade of the Hill "Signature" model's success at being a celebrated modern guitar, The "New Century" series is the newest line built in the Hill workshop in California, using the best hand selected tone woods from around the world. Each guitar is built and finished by hand with meticulous attention to detail. This model is designed for the player desiring the benefits of extraordinary sound & playability with lattice bracing, double-top design and ported features found in the well-known Signature model. Being a player himself, Kenny Hill has for years prioritized the range and quality of the sound a player can create, and the physical ease of playing and this is his current offering. Like the "Signature" model, this guitar features a "double top" (pioneered originally by by Dammann, Wagner, and others) composed of a Nomex core (an ultra light cell structure), "sandwiched" between two very thin layers of cedar (on the outside) and spruce (on the underside). This makes for an extremely light and efficient soundboard, but is domed in such a way as to maximizes stiffness at the same time - very important for both the sound quality and structural stability. Outwardly it seems just like a normal spruce soundboard. This technique is borrowed from ultra light aviation technology. It is braced using a lightweight system of lattices for a durable but flexible system. This guitar also features dual soundports. A hardshell case is included with this guitar.
