Description

Robert Ruck (1945-2018) is regarded as one of the most recognized names in the history American guitar making, and had an extremely prolific career, having built over a thousand instruments, a rare feat by any maker. Perhaps the most famous of his output is the 70's guitar owned by Manuel Barrueco which was used on nearly all of his classic recordings. This particular guitar is superb example of Ruck's best work from the early/mid-1980's in all respects. Materials are superb with a beautiful set of CSA rosewood for the back and sides and a spruce top that is perfectly quarter-sawn as is evidenced by the abundance of "aguas" (cross-grain capillaries) running cross-grain throughout. Soundwise, it has very a firm, solid tone, which feels deeply anchored to the fundamental of each pitch while the hum of the higher partials adds a beautiful texture to the body of the sound. It has plenty of volume and could easily fill a large concert hall with minimal effort from the player. Playability is a breeze with a very comfortably shaped, easy neck. Note the scale length was done in inches (25.5 inches) which is about 646mm. Condition is excellent with barely any signs of use, which is extraordinary for an instrument that has been regularly played for four decades. Overall a fantastic instrument by one of the USA's most respected builders.
