Description

This guitar is a monster of a flamenco from Miguel Rodriguez Jr., arguably one of the finest luthiers of the twentieth century. It is also one of the most visually stunning blancas we've ever seen: its understated use of cypress back and sides with dark-chocolate cedar top contrasted with the bold black tap plates (original from Rodriguez - NOT replacements, and possibly unique in his output) and elegant "nasrid star" rosette flanked on either side by full herringbone (also in tie-block) make this a standout. As beautiful as it looks, the sound is incredible. The guitar is light as a feather, and has huge volume, immediate attack and incredible sustain - making this guitar perfectly suitable for flamenco playing (with a lower setup) or even classical playing with the strings a bit higher. For sound, it is universally appealing for either style of player as it has amazing versatility depending on how it's played. The sound is also very "cedary" with a rich overtone-heavy content to the body of every note, but very controlled at the same time - the snappy attack and huge range (the bottom end is huge and deep and top end is brilliant and sparkling) also gives the guitar amazing clarity. In summary, it's an ultimate "Spanish" guitar in every way. Condition is also amazing for its age - no damage or repairs... Yuris Zeltins did swap out the original wooden pegs with Planetary "machined" pegs to retain the old-school look but modern ease of tuning. This is clearly a superb example of a great Andalucian guitar by one of history's greatest builders.
