Description

David "Jose" Rubio is well known for his work with Julian Bream in the 1960s. This instrument was built during this very period while he was still in New York (Bream played on Rubio guitars made in 1965 and 1966), before he returned to his native England. This Rubio has a very bold sound with the power of any Fleta or Rodriguez from the same period. As is typical with most great Rubios it is very even and balanced in all registers. At the same time, it has the beauty and lyricism for which he is best known. Condition-wise, there is one well repaired split along the center seam on the top, with some finish touch-up in that area. Tuners have been replaced with a set of Sloanes but otherwise the guitar is in original condition. It plays beautifully and easily despite its larger neck and long scale, thanks largely to the elegant and smooth neck shape. This is yet another great example of a top quality Rubio guitar that we've had the privilege to have pass through our doors.
