Description

An exquisite instrument from Hermann Hauser II, who is considered to be one of the greatest makers of the twentieth century. Playability is easy, due to the slender and very comfortable neck shape. It is also a very powerful for a Hauser II of this period, with excellent projection. The fundamental tones are very clear and bell-like with almost perfect separation. Basses are very strong, steady and precise. Overall, the instrument is like a loud and balanced piano, but with the lyrical charm and sweetness of a great, warm and loose Hauser I. The old, aged top has a deep, honey/amber quality in the patina with plenty of silk. We acquired this instrument from the family of its original owner, who was the Venezulan concert artist Froila Esther Niño Passios, who had been a student of Alirio Diaz. The guitar was repaired by Yuris Zeltins in 2016, who spliced 1 crack in the soundboard, and repaired one crack in the back. It is currently in concert-ready performance condition. The Hauser dynasty, now spanning 5 generations, have produced instruments played by countless concert artists including Andres Segovia, Julian Bream, the Romeros and many others. This is a classic Hauser II in all respects - it sounds, looks, and plays great, and a dream for either collector or performer.
