Description

This guitar was made by Domingo Esteso, who along with fellow worker Santos Hernandez (from the Manuel Ramirez shop), was one of the greatest makers of the twentieth century. Although built with cypress, this guitar has excellent tone, much more suited to classical playing. It has a very deep, but clean, clear and pure quality to the sound - a very strong fundamental with rich overtone content in every note - very stylish, refined and alluring. The rich, played-in quality of sound is something that can only be found in an instrument of this vintage. In the hands, it feels very expressive and responsive to the most subtle of changes in the players touch. The sound is absolutely magical from the bottom-end to the highest registers. It has some well-repaired cracks in the body and was refinished at some point in the past but is in structurally sound condition, ready to be played in the concert hall or recording studio. Overall, a very enjoyable and easy instrument to play, with plenty of volume to satisfy a modern audience in any concert setting.

This guitar was previously owned by Gianvito Pulzone, member of the "Guitart Quartet" in Italy (who also, as a soloist, was the only Italian guitarist to make it to the final round of the 2020 Latin Grammys with his CD dedicated to Leo Brouwer) and who also recorded his album "Aires de España" on this guitar (artwork in image gallery).
