Description

Luthier Zoran Kuvac is based in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ex Yugoslavia) and has been a full-time luthier for many years, having built over 200 instruments to date. His influences are mainly traditional Spanish makers such as Torres and Romanillos (he has participated twice in the Romanillos masterclasses) however his current instruments (including the one we are offering here) are based more on the contemporary French school. The guitar we have on offer now is inspired by the work of Daniel Friederich in particular and a look inside at the bracing system indeed confirms this influence. The neck shape is also much like Friederich - very flat ("D-shaped") which provides added steadiness to the left hand particularly during shifting. Aesthetically this guitar is uniquely of Zoran Kuvac's design - it uses beautiful quilted maple for the back/sides with flamed maple for the neck, head veneer and inner rosette bands. It features a beautifully subtle and thin herringbone design for the purfling and rosette interior as well, giving the guitar a very bold, yet elegant appearance. Sound is extremely refined - a thick, fat sound yet with brilliant clarity at the same time. Very responsive to both hands, it has great punch and huge volume particularly for a maple guitar. Many well-known guitarists including Zoran Dukić and Edin Karamazov have played Kuvac guitars. We're very pleased to be representing this excellent maker in the USA and are proud to offer this fine instrument as an example of his current and best work to date.
