Description

German guitar builder Henner Hagenlocher today works out of Granada, Spain and is considered one of the great makers in the Granada school. Subsequent to moving to Granada, Hagenlocher studied Music Technology at the London Guildhall University, where he was introduced to modern design concepts largely aimed at increasing volume in guitar construction. He found that this resulted in instruments that were too heavy and clumsy for his taste. His guitar teacher at that time owned an Antonio Marin and Henner liked it so much that he decided to learn more about the Granada school of guitar making. In 1996 he visited Marin's workshop and immediately became captivated by the Granada style and quickly opened his own shop close by. Since then, his guitars have taken on a style that blends the Marin influence with his qualities found in the old, traditional Spanish guitars, discovered through his extensive investigation into the great masters like Torres, Santos Hernandez and Manuel Ramirez. His instruments are therefore lightweight with an immediate explosive attack. Although he builds in a largely traditional style, his instruments have great power and projection.

This model, a flamenco blanca, features a rich, old world sound, with a very fast response. Like his classicals, it is gorgeous to the eye, and also has a lyrical, voice-like quality to the sound, though with more bite than the classicals. It is extremely light weight, with very easy playability. Highly recommended as a top choice for the concert or recording artist.
