Description

This is a magnificent concert instrument built in 2002 by the late north American master Manuel Velazquez. It has some rarer, special features worth mentioning – the body shape (and bridge size) is slightly more compact than his usual standard model. Curiously it was sold to the original owner as a "Torres" model directly from Manuel himself – in 30 years of business we've only seen one other example like this. It is made with a stunning piece of quarter sawn spruce (with some striking bear claw markings throughout), there is a center strip on the headstock, and it is fitted with premium silver Rodgers tuning machines with ebony buttons. For sound, it has all the trademark Velazquez qualities - clean, pure tone with razor-sharp separation between all voices and a natural, beautiful, "woody" quality to the sound. The fundamental of every note is crystal clear yet the resonance coming out of the box adds a nice rich fullness to the body of each note. Playability is very easy thanks to the sleek shape and contour of the neck, as well as the precise set up. Condition is excellent – no cracks or repairs, only some very minor wear in the top. Overall an extremely beautiful and collectible instrument by arguably the most important and legendary North American maker to date.
