Description

Robert Ruck is one of the most recognized names today in the USA and has had a very prolific career, having built over a thousand instruments to date. Perhaps the most famous of his output is the 70's guitar owned by Manuel Barrueco which was used on nearly all of his classic recordings. This particular guitar is superb example of Ruck's best work from the mid 1990's in all respects. Materials are drop-dead gorgeous with a set of CSA rosewood for the back and sides that has dramatic grain patterning and coloration throughout. The spruce top is perfectly quarter-sawn as is evidenced by the abundance of "aguas" (capilaries) running cross-grain throughout. Tuners are Rodgers. Soundwise, it has very a firm, solid tone, which feels deeply anchored to the fundamental of each pitch while the hum of the higher partials adds a beautiful texture to the body of the sound. It has plenty of volume and could easily fill a large concert hall with minimal effort from the player. Playability is a breeze with a very comfortably shaped, easy neck. Condition is like-new with virtually no signs of use, which is extraordinary for an instrument that has been regularly played for over two decades. Overall a fantastic instrument by one of the most established and respected US builders.
