Description

Luthier Michael Cadiz started out his guitar life early on as a player - he spent time studying at the Chicago College of Performing Arts with Sergio Assad, the Conservatoire National de Region de Clermont-Ferrand in France with Jean-Pierre Billet and privately in Seattle with Michael Nicolella where he currently resides. He has performed in many small chamber ensembles, master classes and was a prizewinner in the Northwest Classical Guitar Competition. He has also played the guitar with a handful of local folk/rock bands that have recorded and toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe. However his deep calling is in lutherie and for the past several years he has been honing his craft to the point where he now offers two models - one inspired by Robert Ruck and the other inspired by the famous 1888 guitar (SE 114) that was once owned and played by Francisco Tarrega, which is what we have on offer here.

Rather than attempting an exact replica, this guitar instead aims to capture some of the character of the original with room for some of Michael's own style and aesthetic. The sound is fat and full with big basses and thick trebles however the notes don't crowd each other out - the clarity between voices is beautifully maintained amidst the richness of sound. Playability is easy with a sleek, comfortable neck and it projects beautifully making it ideal for any sized concert hall. Michael's craftsmanship is superb - the "fit and finish" of the instrument is done with meticulous attention to detail.
