Description

This is a very rare flamenco model from this well-known and highly respected north American maker. Although famous for the "teutonic" style of sound based on his very Hauser-esque designs for his classical guitars, this instrument is as "flamenco" as it gets. It has a lightweight build, punchy, immediate attack and a raspy, very flamenco voice. Of course several trademark Velazquez qualities are still present - great clarity and separation between voices, perfect balance and a natural, beautiful, "woody" quality to the sound. And not surprisingly, a spruce top covered in bearclaw (with 'old school' maple tap plate) - another "signature" detail from this maker. Playability is very easy thanks to the comfortable shape and contour of the neck, as well as a recent re-fret from GV Rubio with comfortable, low flamenco action with just the right amount of "sizzle" when playing rasgueados and picados. Condition is excellent – no cracks or repairs, only some very minor wear in the finish. Overall an extremely beautiful and collectible instrument by arguably the most important and legendary North American maker of the second half of the twentieth century.
