Latest Updates From Uruguayan Luthier Ariel Ameijenda

There are some new and exciting updates from Uruguayan luthier, Ariel Ameijenda. His newest guitar built for GSI is going to be featured in the next issue of Alberto Martinez's "Orfeo Magazine"! Alberto has recently visited Ariel in his workshop and took beautiful and detailed photos of the guitar.

We also have some sneak peek photos showing our guitar in various stages of construction. This particular instrument is Ariel's Torres model. It's based on an 1885 Antonio de Torres SE 81 guitar that for a long time was considered missing until it was rediscovered six years ago in Uruguay (Learn more). Ariel's model is very detailed since it's based on very accurate plans that contain more than 50 measurements of the SE 81 guitar that were prepared in Uruguay after the guitar was miraculously found there.

In addition to sharing photos of his newest guitar, Ariel also sent us two excellent recordings that were recently made in his workshop on four of his guitars. Below you'll find the videos of Mauro Marasco, Alvaro Genta, Daniel Lacuesta, and Nicolás González performing in a quartet on three guitars and a guitarrón - all built by Ariel.
