Five New Videos By Taso Comanescu Are Published On Our YouTube Channel.

Our friend, Taso Comanescu, has recently recorded five new videos in our showroom. This time, Taso prepared pieces for us by Sérrgio Assad, Fernando Sor, Dilermando Reis, Federico Moreno Torroba, and Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Taso's recording session started with "Chuva", the first movement from Sérgio Assad's "Seis Brevidades". The word "Chuva" means "rain" in Portuguese, and the melancholic character of the piece is supposed to symbolize the foggy morning on a rainy day in the Chicago Loop. Taso recorded this piece on a "Friederich model" guitar - a 2020 Giovanni Tacchi CD/IN guitar. Giovanni Tacchi is the son of Andrea Tacchi.

For his second piece, Taso played for us Fernando Sor's "Study No. 17, Op. 35". This piece is also known as "Estudio No. 6 in D-Major". from Andres Segovia's book "Twenty Studies for the Guitar by Fernando Sor". In this video, you can hear Taso playing on a 2023 Jose Vigil SP/CSAR guitar. Jose Vigil is a representative of the "Granada" school of building guitars. His instruments have a slightly more compact and lightweight body, an impressive speed of response, and great volume.

In the next video, we can hear a very special guitar. It's an 1887 Antonio de Torres SP/MH (SE 105). This guitar is one of the great masterpieces of Torres' output due to its quality of sound, condition, and historical importance. It’s a medium-sized guitar, braced with 5 fans and a 635mm scale. Taso chose a perfect piece to record on this instrument - "Eterna Saudade" by Dilermando Reis.

"Romance De Los Pinos (Montemayor)" from Federico Moreno Torroba's "Castillos de España" was composed in the 1950s for Andres Segovia. It's a simple and very meditative, yet incredibly beautiful, short piece. Taso recorded this composition on a 2023 Lucas Martin #100 SP/MP. Martin is a Granada-based builder. His guitars are very traditional and lightweight, which is very characteristic of the style of the "Granada" school. This particular guitar also features exceptionally beautiful materials as it's his milestone 100th instrument.

For the final piece, Taso recorded Heitor Villa-Lobos' "Prelude No. 5" on a beautiful vintage Spanish guitar, a 1973 Hernandez y Aguado CD/CSAR. Turibio Santos, the director of the Museu Villa-Lobos in Rio de Janeiro and the author of the book titled "Heitor Villa-Lobos and The Guitar", described Villa-Lobos' Preludes as musical portraits of Brazilian people and their country. "Prelude No. 5" is an homage to social life and young people who go the concerts in the Theatre in Rio.
