D'Addario Artist, Lorenzo Micheli, Records On a Paula Lazzarini Guitar in Cremona, Italy.

News

We're proud to share another fantastic set of videos recorded in collaboration with our friends from D'Addario strings. This time, we focused on Argentine-Italian luthier, Paula Lazzarini, and D'Addario artist Lorenzo Micheli, one of the top Italian classical guitarists and the winner of the GFA International Concert Artists Competition in 1999.

Even though Paula Lazzarini has a new workshop in Turin, we organized this video shoot in Paula's previous workshop located in Cremona, Italy - the city where you can feel the spirit of the top violin luthiers of the past - Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737), Andrea Amati, and his grandson Niccolò (1505-1577 & 1596-1684), Guarneri del Gesù (1698-1744), and many other excellent makers. Paula Lazzarini is the first female luthier who won the very prestigious Antonio Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada, Spain. Her work won the jury over for its understated yet precise craftsmanship, bold yet refined quality of tone, and easy playability.

In the videos below, you can hear Lorenzo Micheli playing on a 2023 Paula Lazzarini CD/ZR. Lorenzo recorded three pieces: Anton Diabelli's "Fuga Op. 46 No. 1", "Quién Más Rendido?" from "Caprichos de Goya" by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and "Wiegenlied (Lullaby)" K. 350 ("Schlafe, Mein Prinzchen") attributed to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and arranged for guitar by Ferdinand Rebay.
